Sales Assistant

Homebird Interiors – Altrincham

Love interiors, beautiful products and helping customers find things they didn’t know they needed? You might feel right at home here.

We’re looking for a warm, enthusiastic and hands-on Sales Assistant to join our lovely team in our Altrincham store.

For nearly 20 years Homebird has been a destination for thoughtfully curated furniture, interiors and gifts, with a loyal customer base who return regularly to see what’s new. We’re looking for someone who can help us continue that tradition - bringing energy, excellent service and a strong eye for presentation to the shop floor.

This is much more than a traditional retail role. It’s about helping create an inspiring store environment, offering genuine customer care, and playing a part in keeping the store constantly fresh, evolving and full of discovery. We’re especially drawn to people who take pleasure in styling a shelf, moving a display “just so”, and keeping a shop feeling fresh and inspiring.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role on the shop floor, with customer service at its heart. You’ll:

  • Welcome and assist customers, providing warm, attentive and knowledgeable service
  • Help customers with purchases, product advice and day-to-day queries
  • Merchandise and style products in a visually appealing way in keeping with the Homebird look and feel
  • Help keep the store feeling fresh, inspiring and ever-changing
  • Monitor incoming deliveries and ensure new stock flows quickly and beautifully onto the shop floor
  • Support stock management, helping keep a healthy turnover of products and identifying slower-moving lines
  • Observe buying patterns and help influence displays and product placement accordingly
  • Assist with day-to-day store operations including till work, cash handling, replenishment and maintaining high store standards
  • One of the real joys of the role is the people, working with a lovely team and building relationships with customers, many of whom are regular visitors.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Naturally warm, friendly and great with people
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and full of ideas
  • Experienced in a retail environment (essential)
  • Comfortable handling money and supporting day-to-day store operations
  • Adaptable and able to respond to challenges in a proactive, resourceful way
  • Organised and observant, with a strong eye for detail
  • Genuinely interested in home interiors, furniture and staging products beautifully
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small, close-knit team

Previous visual merchandising experience is desirable, and a genuine interest in interiors and styling products is very important to us. Above all, we want someone kind, energetic and engaged. Someone who enjoys being part of a team and wants to contribute ideas as well as effort.

Why Join Us?

  • Work in a beautiful and inspiring retail environment
  • Be part of a warm, supportive and creative team
  • Work with an ever-changing and carefully curated product range
  • Have the freedom to contribute ideas and take pride in the shop floor
  • Join a much-loved independent business with a loyal following
  • Learn from an experienced senior team who are happy to support and develop you

  • Must include one weekend day
  • Flexibility to cover holidays and occasional additional shifts is important
