Sisters Miri Templeton and Darrell Whittaker founded Homebird in 2008 after selling a successful furniture business two years prior. Homebird was created with one simple goal in mind:-

"To offer great products at great value whilst avoiding the common retail practices of ever-changing sales and promotions, instead we opt for straight forward and fair pricing, no gimmicks."

This up-front and honest approach has resulted in an army of loyal Homebird customers, four fabulous showrooms and now an expansion into Homebird online as well.

Homebird is an interiors and gift boutique selling everything from British made sofas, oak and French furniture to candles, planters, greeting cards and jewellery.

"When we sold our previous company we didn’t realise how much we would miss running a business – finding and sourcing great new products, working alongside our amazing staff and, most of all, our relationship with our customers.

When we launched Homebird we had to do everything, but as we were passionate about our business we just got on with it. Everyone was really supportive and we have managed to create a business that is more than just a brand, it’s an experience and a community where people can freely browse time and time again, and at the very least leave with some inspiration for their home."

The sisters also travel far and wide to source their products, visiting France, Italy, and Germany regularly, as well as trips to the Far East.

"It’s important to get the best for our customers so we both travel together to meet our suppliers. We are also fortunate enough to have some great local manufacturers and suppliers – some of whom produce our designs exclusively for us."

Miri and Darrell have a shared passion for furniture and accessories for the home which has helped them to work together for nearly 20 years.

"As sisters we are very close and we work well together and are able to tell each other anything. We are always going to be sisters first and foremost and business partners second. That's why family is always at the heart of Homebird"
